Help & Support
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about solar PTZ cameras, off-grid setup, 4G connectivity, delivery, warranties and support — built for South African farms.
Products & Technology
Do your solar cameras really work without grid power?
Yes. Every camera in our Solar PTZ and Trail Camera ranges is fully off-grid — built-in lithium battery + integrated solar panel. They charge during the day and record around the clock, with zero Eskom connection needed. The standard battery lasts 5–7 cloudy days without recharging.
What's the difference between Wi-Fi and 4G models?
Wi-Fi cameras need to be in range of your home or farm router and stream over your existing internet — best for the farmhouse, sheds and yards close to the building. 4G cameras have a SIM slot and work anywhere with a Vodacom or MTN signal — ideal for boreholes, remote pastures, lodge perimeters, and anywhere Wi-Fi doesn't reach.
How long does the solar battery last on a cloudy day?
All our solar cameras are sized for South African conditions. Under typical mixed weather they recharge fully every day, and the lithium battery holds enough reserve for 5–7 consecutive days of cloud cover before needing direct sun. In extended overcast periods you can also charge them via the supplied USB cable.
What resolution do your cameras record at?
Our standard solar cameras record at 4MP (2K, 2560×1440) for sharp detail at distance — important for reading number plates, identifying livestock, or seeing fence-line activity. The dual-lens models record both wide and zoomed views simultaneously. All models include night vision, with the 20X Dual Lens reaching 50–80 m at night.
What is a PTZ camera and do you sell them?
PTZ stands for pan, tilt, zoom. The camera physically rotates and zooms via the app, so one camera can cover a much wider area than a fixed lens. Yes — our Solar PTZ range includes the MINI PTZ (compact, 360° pan), STEEL PTZ (heavy-duty for high mounts), and 20X Dual Lens (long-range zoom + wide-angle simultaneously).
Do you sell anything besides cameras?
Yes. We also stock PIR Solar Alarms (perimeter motion detection that runs entirely on solar), Solar Pumps for boreholes and reservoirs, and general farm products. Browse all products for the full range.
Connectivity & Apps
Which networks do your 4G cameras work on?
Our 4G cameras accept any standard nano-SIM and work across Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Telkom networks in South Africa. We recommend Vodacom or MTN for the best rural coverage. The camera doesn't lock to a network — you can swap SIMs anytime.
Do I need cell signal where the camera is installed?
For 4G cameras, yes — you need at least one bar of 3G/4G at the install spot. If you're not sure, walk to the spot with your phone in mobile-data mode. If WhatsApp messages send normally, the camera will work. For locations with no signal at all, our Wi-Fi models with a long-range outdoor router are usually the right choice — message us and we'll help you spec it.
Can I view multiple cameras on one phone?
Yes. The UBOX and UCON apps support unlimited cameras on one account, with split-screen views for 2, 4 or 9 cameras at once. You can also share access with family or staff so multiple people can monitor the same farm at the same time.
Which apps do I use with the cameras?
PTZ and fixed cameras use the UBOX app. Trail cameras use the UCON app. Both are free on iOS and Android. Setup walkthroughs are on our About page — scroll to the video tutorials section for step-by-step guides on creating an account, adding a camera, and enabling notifications.
Will I get notifications when something is detected?
Yes. Both apps push real-time alerts to your phone when motion or activity is detected. You can set sensitivity zones (e.g. only the gate, not the road), schedule when notifications are active, and toggle by camera. For some users this is the single most useful feature — you only get woken up when it actually matters.
Installation & Setup
Is it hard to install a solar PTZ camera?
Most farmers install them themselves in under 30 minutes. Each camera ships with mounting hardware and a quick-start guide. You bolt the camera to a pole, wall or post (3 m+ for best view), open the app, scan the QR code on the camera, and you're online. We have an unboxing and setup video for every model on our About page.
Does it come with everything I need?
Yes. Every camera ships with mounting brackets, screws and wall plugs, a USB charging cable (for backup charging), a quick-start guide, and the QR code/credentials for the app. The only thing you need to add yourself is a SIM card for 4G models, or a microSD card if you want local backup recording (cards up to 256 GB are supported).
Do I need an electrician?
No. Because the cameras are 100% solar with internal batteries, there's nothing to wire to mains power. If you'd like the camera mounted very high up or on a tricky structure (silos, water tanks, lattice towers), any handyman with a ladder and a drill can do it.
How high should I mount the camera?
For PTZ cameras: 3–5 m gives the best balance of coverage and tamper-resistance. Lower than 2.5 m makes it easy to obstruct or steal; higher than 6 m starts to compromise night-vision detail. For trail cameras: chest height (1.4–1.6 m) on a post or tree facing the path you want to monitor.
Orders, Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship across South Africa?
Yes — we ship nationwide from our base in Schweizer Reneke, North West. Major centres receive in 2–3 working days; outlying farms typically 3–5 working days via courier. For smaller orders, courier fees are calculated at checkout based on your postal code.
How long does delivery take?
Orders placed before 12:00 SAST on a working day are dispatched the same day. Delivery typically takes 2–4 working days door-to-farm. You'll receive a tracking link via SMS and email as soon as the parcel is collected.
Can I collect from your offices?
Yes. Local farmers and Schweizer Reneke residents are welcome to collect — just message us first to confirm stock and arrange a time. The collection address is shown on the Contact page.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), instant EFT via Ozow, manual EFT, and SnapScan/Zapper. Business and farm accounts can request invoiced payment terms — message us with your details and we'll set it up.
Warranty, Returns & Support
What warranty do you offer?
All Agri Solsec cameras and alarms come with a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Solar pumps carry a 1-year warranty on the pump unit and 2 years on the panels. Selected products in our flagship range carry up to a 5-year warranty — full details are on each product page.
What's your return policy?
You have 7 calendar days from delivery to cancel an online order under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and a further period for products that are defective or not as described. Full terms are on our Return Policy page.
What happens if my camera develops a fault after the warranty?
We don't drop you. Out-of-warranty repairs are handled at parts cost — usually a fraction of replacing the camera. WhatsApp us and we'll diagnose, quote and arrange courier-in / courier-out from the farm.
Do you offer installation help?
For most farms self-install is the fastest, cheapest route. If you'd prefer hands-on help, we have a network of installers across the major regions — message us with your farm location and we'll connect you.
How do I contact Agri Solsec?
WhatsApp is the fastest — most farmers get a reply within minutes. Alternatively, email agrisolsec@gmail.com, call +27 71 202 2726, or use the form on the Contact page.
Still have questions?
Talk to a real person. We're based in Schweizer Reneke and we know the products inside out — most farmers get a reply within minutes on WhatsApp.
